Casorella Museum
Description
Home to the City of Locarno's prestigious art collection, the Casorella Museum is a luxurious 16th-century residence, built close to the Castello Visconteo.
On display are works by representatives of the European 20th century avant-gardes. Together with an important nucleus of works by Jean "Hans" Arp, significant works by great authors of the early and second half of the 20th century are presented, including Joseph Albers, Sonia Delaunay, Max Ernst, Paul Klee, Meret Oppenheim and Francis Picabia.
The visit continues with an exhibition dedicated to Filippo Franzoni, the best-known Locarno artist, and temporary exhibitions. The garden adjoining the building is also an open-air museum, in which important sculptures by the Max Bill can be admired.
The Casorella Museum offers numerous activities, workshops and guided tours to discover the artistic heritage on display.
The Museum Casorella will be closed to the public from 8 January to 15 March 2024.
